I became interested in ceramics while living in Japan.
I frequently visited Bernard Leach's home at Mashiko, and the Seto area, one of the oldest pottery centres in Japan. I like the simplicity of the traditional Japanese style with its focus on simple glazes to highlight form.
I started making pots in 1990 and have attended various pottery courses since then.
I make pots from home and all my work is thrown using the wheel. I use earthenware clay and have developed my own simple transparent glaze, over coloured slips and oxides. I make bowls, dishes, plates and vases for everyday use in the home.
