Cherrell Avery is a professional freelance calligrapher and lettering artist. Cherrell works for clients such as Marks & Spencer, Selfridges, Middlesex University and The Royal Household Physicians.. She also regularly shows her own work including a touring exhibition starting from The Princes Foundation. She enjoys experimenting with letter forms, colour and paper surfaces in order to interpret and communicate the written word in a visually expressive way.

A qualified teacher and calligraphy tutor for The Institute, in East Finchley and Muswell Hill and a handwriting specialist for children. Cherrell leads workshops and teaches her art at The British Library and The Bank of England Museum. In 2004 she ran masterclasses at The Royal Academy of Arts on illuminated manuscripts.

Graduate of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators, elected Associate of The Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society, co founder and President of The North London Lettering Association.
